• V.O.C.- Cricket Senior Selectie - het einde van het seizoen 2023🏏

    Het senior cricket seizoen 2023 is alweer ten einde na de afronding van fase 2 van de Topklasse en Eerste Klasse 50 over competities.
    Zowel V.O.C. 1 als V.O.C. 2 hebben opnieuw zeer succesvolle seizoenen achter de rug met beide teams die de T20-bekers hebben gewonnen. Voor V.O.C. 2 betekent dit promotie naar de Hoofdklasse T20 competitie voor het seizoen 2024. 

    Naast het T20-succes kwalificeerden beide teams zich voor de Championship Pool in hun respectievelijke 50 over-competities, maar kwamen dit jaar helaas niet in de finale.
    Het seizoen 2023 voor V.O.C. 2 betekende 50 over cricket in plaats van 40. Het team nam de toename van het aantal overs goed op.
    In fase 1 brachten overwinningen op Ghausia, VRA 2, Concordia, Centurions en Hercules hen naar de 3e plaats bij de pauze van het 50-over cricket.
    In fase 2 worstelde de ploeg met onbeschikbaarheid, maar maakte de club toch trots door de jeugd van de club te promoten. 

    Nieuwe speler bij de club Mussa Jamil was de opvallende speler die de runs en wicket-kaarten leidde en werd goed ondersteund door V.O.C.-jeugdproducten, Siebe van Wingerden en Rohan Malik op de wicket-afdeling.
    Een geweldig seizoen voltooid door V.O.C. 2. 

    Voor V.O.C. 1 zag fase 1 overwinningen op HCC, ACC, Punjab, HBS en een krappe 2-run overwinning op VRA die hen naar de kampioenspoule bracht. Helaas was er nog maar één overwinning in fase 2 voor V.O.C. 1 tegen Sparta, waar een andere V.O.C.-jeugdspeler centraal stond; Roman Harhangi pakte 6 wickets voor 17 runs in 6 overs om Sparta te verslaan. 

    De buitenlandse coach van 2023, Lane Berry, eindigde als topscorer met 674 runs en de spin acties van Arnav Jain en nieuwe rekruut Asief Hosienbaks stonden bovenaan de wicketlijst met respectievelijk 23 en 17 wickets.
    Al met al weer een succesvol seizoen aan de top van het Nederlandse cricket voor V.O.C.

    V.O.C. 1 richt nu hun aandacht op de voorbereiding op ECL24 in Malaga rond februari/maart.
    Daarvóór zal de club de spelers van het Nederlands elftal, Max O'Dowd en aanvoerder Scott Edwards ondersteunen bij hun voorbereiding op de ICC 50 over World Cup in India in oktober en november. 

    Enorm bedankt aan alle supporters die er het hele seizoen zijn geweest, evenals aan de scorers en de ground-staff, jullie inspanningen worden enorm gewaardeerd door de ploeg.

    V.O.C. - Cricket Senior Selection End of Season Wrap Up

    The 2023 senior cricket season has come to a close following the completion of phase 2 of the Topklasse and Eerste Klasse 50 over competitions.
    Both V.O.C. 1 and V.O.C. 2 have again had very successful seasons with both teams collecting T20 trophies and for V.O.C. 2 promotion into the Hoofdklasse T20 for the 2024 season.

    Alongside the T20 success both teams qualified for the Championship Pool in their respective 50 over competitions but unfortunately fell short of the finals this year.
    The 2023 season for V.O.C. 2 saw them encounter 50 over cricket and the squad took to the increase in overs well. 

    In phase 1, victories over Ghausia, VRA 2, Concordia, Centurions and Hercules saw them to 3rd place at the break.
    In phase 2, the squad struggled with unavailability but still did the club proud by promoting the clubs youth. 

    New player to the club Mussa Jamil was the standout player leading the run scoring and wicket taking charts and was well supported by V.O.C. youth products, Siebe van Wingerden and Rohan Malik in the wicket taking department.
    An awesome season completed by V.O.C. 2.

    For V.O.C. 1, phase 1 saw victories over HCC, ACC, Punjab, HBS and a tight 2 run victory over VRA powered them into the championship pool.
    Unfortunately there was only one further victory in phase 2 for V.O.C. 1 against Sparta where another V.O.C. youth player took centre stage, Roman Harhangi picking up 6 wickets for 17 runs in 6 overs to demolish Sparta.

    2023 overseas coach, Lane Berry finished top run scorer with 674 runs and the spin twins of Arnav Jain and new recruit Asief Hosienbaks topped the wicket taking list with 23 and 17 wickets respectively.
    Overall, another successful season at the top end of Dutch cricket for V.O.C.. 

    V.O.C. 1 now turn their attention to preparation for ECL24 in Malaga around February/March time.

    Prior to that the club will be supporting Dutch national team players, Max O’Dowd and national captain Scott Edwards as they prepare for the ICC 50 over World Cup in India during October and November.

    A massive thank you to all the supporters who have been there all season likewise to the scorers and ground staff, your efforts are greatly appreciated by the squad.
